A female student of Jericho High School, Ibadan, Oyo State, has been suspended for allegedly conspiring with her mother to assault another student, some teachers and parents, Punch Newspaper reports.
The girl and her mother were said to have hired hoodlums who invaded the school and attacked the victims during a Parent-Teacher Association meeting.
The identities of the student and her mother had yet to be revealed as of press time.
The state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Rahman Abdu-Raheem, in a statement on Tuesday, confirmed the student’s suspension over the matter.
The statement read, “The Oyo State Government has suspended a female student of Jericho High School, Ibadan.”
“The student, in company with her mother, recently invaded the school with hefty thugs and miscreants, assaulting a male student, teachers and other parents during an ongoing PTA meeting.”
“The mayhem was said to have been ignited by the girl’s mother and other accomplices, thereby causing tension in the school.”
The commissioner expressed displeasure at the incident, saying government would take further action to serve as a deterrent to other parents and pupils.
He appealed for caution, adding that the present government had zero tolerance for impunity.
